Recreational Courses
Beyond The Buoy is proud to offer the full range of SDI Recreational Courses within our instructor network.Â
Â
Most divers begin with the full Open Water Scuba Diver course, whether from finding the opportunity on their own or having completed a "Discovery Dive" or "Try Dive" while on vacation.Â

Whether you are coming into Open Water with some prior exposure or having never worn a mask and fins, the BTB team can help you find your flow and earn your first (or next) recreational scuba certification. Remember, a certification is a license to learn, not the end of your journey beneath the surface.Â

Classes begin with a self-paced, e-learning module before transitioning to the in-water section of the course. Open Water Scuba Diver includes time in both confined water (such as a pool) and open water environments (such as a quarry, ocean, or river).Â

Most advanced courses also include both e-learning and in-water training. The logistics (location, duration, and in-water requirements) vary depending on the particular specialty.Â

SDI course standards and procedures can be viewed at anytime on the SDI website. BTB is committed to training beyond the standards for the highest quality, elevated training experience.Â

Recreational Pricing
Prices listed include: e-learning course codes, rental gear (regulators, BCDs, tanks), and entry fees to local training facilities.Â

Prices do not include: personal gear (mask, snorkel, fins, & boots).
Â
A limited quantity and size range of wetsuits may be available to rent for a small fee, but most individuals do prefer to provide their own.Â

If additional training days are needed to complete the course, there may be a corresponding cost, location dependent.Â

The BTB team enjoys traveling to complete training courses as well as teaching here at home in the Lowcountry. Some courses (such as Deep Diver) require venturing beyond our primary training facility. In the event of travel outside of the Charleston area or if a local off-shore charter is needed, a corresponding fee will apply. Students are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses in addition to course fees.Â

If your schedule does not align with planned classes, our instructors are happy to discuss opportunities for private classes. Pricing may vary based on location and number of students participating.Â

BTB is proud to support our First Responders & Military members. Please contact us to learn more about available discounts.Â
Classes with an (*) have been approved as eligible for GI Bill Benefits.
